Raw Chocolate Mousse Pudding

I’m beginning to wonder if my gorgeous best friend and I have perhaps, made an error in judgement with naming our blog Hot Pink Chilli – since no chillies were harmed in the making of these recipes. But chocolate on the other hand? Not harmed, but consumed in copious amounts? Hell yeah! Still, Hot Pink Raw Organic Cacao Bean doesn’t quite have the same ring to it so for now, I will continue posting unashamedly about my favourite food component in the entire world and will endeavor to give our blog’s name sake a mention sometime in the new year. I’m thinking chilli hot chocolate! Oh boy, there I go again…

3 Avocados

3/4 C Raw cacao powder

1/2 C Raw honey / agave / maple syrup

1/2 C Coconut oil / butter

Blend together until smooth and try your best not to eat it all by yourself all in one go!

Variations could include: pinch of salt / a teaspoon of ground cinnamon / 1 teaspoon of rum

Serves 3-4

How can something that tastes so deliciously sinful actually be good for you? For one thing, you’re sweetening it with low glycaemic index natural sweeteners which will not spike your sugar levels and bring you crashing down afterwards like cane sugar would. If you can get your hands on local, raw honey, then you are also benefiting from the anti-viral, anti-bacterial aspects of one of nature’s superfoods! Here at Hot Pink Chilli we are very fortunate to have an Apiarist (fancy-pants name for a beekeeper) a mere 15 minutes away.

Avocado is renowned to be a healthy fat. What does that mean? How much time do you have to cover all the benefits of this incredible food?! According to a well-known email “God’s Pharmacy” avocado does wonders for fertility and stabilising hormone levels. It’s also been shown to be a fat-burner (yes please!), good for your eye health, reduce the risk of many cancers & heart disease, regulate blood sugar levels, it’s anti-aging and it will wash your car… ok so the last one is clearly not true but with all these fantastic benefits you wonder just what an avocado can’t do for you?!

Raw Cacao powder is chocolate. Nuff said. Alright, alright… I’ll expound on something other than the deliciousness of cacao: for example its anti-oxidants levels rate extremely high on the ORAC scale. Yes, there are other foods which rate higher but Raw ‘Sumac Bran’ Pudding will never  have the same appeal as Raw Chocolate Mousse Pudding! According to this website magnesium is the highest deficient mineral in the world and cacao is one of the highest food sources of magnesium known! I have been told that I am magnesium deficient. Like my mother used to say: “How many times do I have to talk before you listen?” In this case, I was listening before you told me!

Coconut Oil has had a bad rap for the last few decades. The Coconut Research Centre is a non-profit website which details the conspiracy theories regarding why coconut oil, with so many health properties is not more widely used. We now know (slash ‘know again‘) that whilst coconut oil is classified as a saturated fat, not all saturated fats are created equal. Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid making it the last fat you will ever store on your tooshie and the first fat your body is likely to use as a source of energy. Being so calorie-dense, it fills you up, making you less likely to overeat on the bad stuff  – not to mention the plethora of other benefits it can bring to your body.

So in other words, eat up my Raw Chocolate Mousse Pudding, guilt-free and make enough so that you don’t have to share your bowl!

Love, Jodes

    • Hi Shar, with pleasure! Halifax Circuit in Woombye – it’s a tiny little dead-end street and his house is on the right, you can see his beehives through the trees to the left. It’s just an honesty box in his driveway and works out to approximately $5/kg, such delicious honey! Thanks for following us 🙂
